The order repeals the 2023 order that previously governed these exports.<\/p>\n<h2>Key points<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Principle<\/strong> : copper and cobalt concentrates may no longer be exported;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exemptions<\/strong> : the Minister of Mines may grant exemptions of up to one year to projects meeting \u201cstrategic\u201d criteria;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective<\/strong> : to retain more added value in the country through local processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Limited short-term impact<\/h2>\n<p>According to SMM analysts, the immediate impact on global concentrate trade should remain limited, as exports were already subject to strict authorisations.
